Purchased to hold water for dogs. It's much sturdier than the one I bought a while back which had a rounded edge on top that started to crack at points perpendicular to the grip lines. I suspect the weight of the water was pulling the handles together and putting pressure on those points. This bucket has an edge that I think will help prevent the same from happening. Metal also seems to be heavier.

Thank you to the Amazon customer who brought our attention to the lead warning at the bottom of this bucket. I wonder if I got the bucket she made and who knows how many others have been sent back because the label on mine is badly worn and the bottom of the bucket is scratched. I will not use this for its intended purpose - to carry around purified drinking water that has been purified through the Berkey system! Just to see if I really like it I only bought one - the one advertised as "4 gallons". Using the truncated cone volume formula actually gives you exactly 2.93 gallons. My input from the actual bucket was D = 10.75", d = 8.0", h = 9.75", and the formula is 1/3 * pi * h * (r ^ 2 + r *R+R^2 ). Speaking of a volume filled to the brim, mind you.
