This bag is amazing! The fabric is very durable. The seams look very strong and durable. If I had to say one important thing, it's that the product description matches the color better than the picture. In the picture it looks almost brown, but it's definitely black (that's what I wanted anyway). Each of the cancerous canvas bags on Amazon has an obvious problem, but this one was definitely the best choice.

I bought it in 2016 for $11. This is a reasonable (though not waterproof) everyday backpack for work and travel. Update (2019): After 3 years I am retiring my soldier backpack. It treated me well as a daily mode of transportation for work and study. The bag is still fine despite bumps, spills, showers etc. I've found over the years that a bag can be quite uncomfortable when heavily loaded with laptops/books. I took this bag on a 6 week tourist trip through Europe. It has a fairly durable canvas. It's very simple and that's why I wanted it. The back straps must be threaded through the metal clips twice to prevent them from slipping. External pockets are not very secure but provide quick access to things.
