I ordered two of these, black and purple. The black one is actually made out of a different, less papery, more durable material, while this purple one is made out of a thinner material. However, both portfolios began to burst at the seams. The glue holding them together doesn't seem strong enough. I thought it was because we spilled purple, but black has the same problem (although not as bad as purple). The purple briefcase is completely separated on one side.

The material is much thinner than I expected so I have to put a big piece of cardboard or mat inside to make it hard The valve above does not close because there is velcro on one side and not on the other. And as another reviewer said, there are pieces of metal in the tether straps that could damage the artwork. If I put a matte board in and seal the metal parts it shouldn't be a problem. This is a reasonably strong briefcase for light materials. It has a Velcro closure and is lightly coated with a plasticized finish. It doesn't hold a lot of water, but it's ok for light splashes. I've had this one for a while and it's been used pretty hard. I ordered what I thought was the same in red (I don't care the color and red was cheaper) and they are not the same.
