Excellent tape measure in tape measures

Firstly, understand that no tape measure is an accurate measuring tool, if you use a tape measure you must use the same tape measure for all your measurements. This tape measure is very accurate compared to my 1m workshop standard (it's less than 2mm at 1m). The first 5 mm are difficult to read, but not really designed for such small dimensions. They are very strong, I keep dropping them down a two meter ladder, about 6 feet. I also have to say that this band is just amazing. in the hand.

  • Quality construction
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

A must for developers

I live in the US and everything is mostly in base 12 English and it drives me nuts because I build and run 3D printers and they are all designed and parts are sold custom made . I often use this to check measurements that match what I have in Fusion 360 for projects. And when I need a more accurate measurement, I pull out a caliper. But for quick metric measurements this is a great and affordable tape measure for those stuck in countries that mostly only sell English tape measures.

  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not bad

Solid tool. - Tape measure

Seems to be a reliable tool. It's a little thicker than I expected (1 1/16 inches without the clip, although the band is only 1/2 inch wide) and the case isn't as bright red as the photo shows. (It doesn't stand out as much as the optical yellow it replaced.) Sure, it's spring-loaded to retract the band once you release the brake. I was taught not to let the tape feed all the way to the end at full speed as it gets very sticky to the hook. I will continue to show this concern. However, this…

  • Definitely a bad product

Light and easy to read

I have a number of larger tapes that I use in the shop all the time. Unfortunately I have a bad habit of putting them away after use and then going to another part of the store for something else only to find I forgot to pick up the tape. I figured a nice little one to slip in my pocket would be useful. While it's very light and easy to read, it's also a little clunky for that purpose. It's about the same size as my more powerful Stanley Lever Lock. However, it is a very good band and many will

Perfect linear metric

My husband works construction all day. He has many famous brands of tape measure, but he says they end up coming out of his toolbox and never coming back. He's always liked this brand and he thought we'd go with a few different ones. He tested it for accuracy against his Dewalt and Milwaukee brands and it proved to be as accurate as they are. What he likes best is that it's lightweight. Since he always carries one or more pieces with him at the same time, he is happy about the low weight. This…

If you want true accuracy skip this one

Starrett has long been a dominant player in the gauge field. I've had a few mics from them and they're great. However, this roulette let me down. The metal of the hook is too thin and the rivets are too weak for accuracy. I have found that the hook slides off the edge of the tree all the time because the hook bends outwards a bit. Not only is that annoying, but it takes at least a millimeter of what you read. I have a cheap handout tape with a much better hook that is dead accurate compared to…

Okay, but expected more from Starrett

All right, great. It is less designed than transformed. Someone took a 3/4 inch by 16 foot tape measure and converted it to metric by adding some length and printing the tape in millimeters. The really annoying thing is the "+3" cast into the case for internal measurements. it is *NOT* fully metric. Those 3 inches are 76.2mm. Don't forget this number and don't forget to add it to your internal measurements. Why didn't they make it to 75 or 100? The specifications state that the width is 19mm. ,

Great little tape measure SHOP

This is my third Starrett tape measure and I am as happy as all my other Starrett gauges that fit snugly in my shop apron. I use them all daily in crafting closets and general workshops and have never had any negative issues as stated by other reviews. I wouldn't consider them for 'in the field' use though - they're not suited to that environment and I suspect that's where a lot of the negative comments come from. The return spring (I agree) doesn't fit every tape measure and is certainly…

mm on both edges

One day in the 1980's I needed a replacement board that would fit exactly into the space I measured at 26 and 21/32 inches. I cut the replacement exactly one inch shorter. I was so intrigued by determining the 21/32 mark that I ended up on the wrong side of the 26 inch mark. Now I've realized that the metric system is more reliable because the scale is simpler. In this case I needed 677 mm. It was easy: two notches more than 675. This number is easier to write and read. Measuring tapes with…
