Didn't work with my RME Fireface UFX+

I only bought it for one reason: to connect my RME Fireface UFX+ to a computer in a recording studio. Interface not found when connected to the Thunderbolt 3 card on my computer. The Thunderbolt window doesn't show my device as connected and I can't find it in Device Manager. Several reboots, reinstalling Thunderbolt drivers for my computer and my RME interface didn't help. For reference, the motherboard is ASRock X299 Taichi LGA 2066. The processor is Intel Core i9-7900X Skylake-X 10-Core…

Works as advertised no drama

These are guys doing good things. There are so many Apple/Mac peripherals out there that won't work with one or the other - not like StarTech. It's well built and compatible with whatever you own. I use this in the recording studio where you literally can't afford to have something stop working during a session. You want absolute reliability, and Star Tech is one of the few companies that makes this quality, along with Apple itself. You can pay for genuine Apple stuff (the best) or save a few…

The product didn't suit me

I am sharing this review in the hope it will help others. The problem I wanted to solve with the StarTech adapter was connecting my Apple Thunderbolt display to a new Windows USB-C/Thunderbolt laptop. After much research based on StarTech publications, I bought this rather expensive adapter. I tried this with two brand new Windows laptops, a Lenovo C930 and a Dell XPS 13. The results were the same on both. Notebooks detect the Apple Thunderbolt Display and ask permission to connect. After…

DOES NOT WORK WITH LENOVO YOGA 920 AND APPLE THUNDERBOLT DISPLAY!

The product did not work properly (or not work at all) when connected to LENOVO YOGA 920 (USB-C) and APPLE THUNDERBOLT DISPLAY (MC914LL/B). In theory it should have worked. The INTEL Thunderbolt software recognized the display and asked for permission, etc. However, when it came time to actually connect, which was useful, the Thunderbolt software showed it as Not Connected and then, you guessed it, it didn't work . After much research online I've come to the conclusion that there must be some…

Focusrite won't connect to Lenovo PC

Purchased to connect a Focusrite Clarret 8PreX audio interface to a Lenovo ThinkCentre M920q equipped with an OEM Thunderbolt expansion card. I first bought an Apple adapter and it worked and connected well but the audio was buggy. So I paid twice as much for this item, and it's literally an inert piece of plastic. Might be a bad block but I don't have another TB device/computer to test with. In any case, I strongly recommend considering an Apple device before paying twice as much for it. Also,

If you have a Dell.

Save yourself some time. My wife got a Dell 4790 with a USB-C port at a new job. Cute! I thought it would be easy to connect it to my Thunderbolt 27". Not so fast! I already bought an Apple USB-C to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. It didn't work. The computer threw an unsupported Thunderbolt -Device complained. So I swore by Apple's proprietary approach and I figured I'd have to pay for that more expensive adapter... It didn't work either and gave the same error... this laptop has an almost microscopic…

Don't buy an Apple. Apollo Twin works on PC.

I purchased this (StarTech.com Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter) in 2017 to connect my Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo 2 to an Acer Predator Windows 10 17" laptop with a Thunderbolt 3 port. Worked flawlessly. Now I need to connect my old Firewire audio interface to my new MacBook Pro which only has ONE Thunderbolt 3 port. The FireWire to Thunderbolt 3 adapter doesn't exist and never will (since nobody has made one yet Apple of course requires you to spend $29 for a Firewire to Thunderbolt…
