When I got the new starter I was surprised that the bendix gear was much smaller than the OEM part. At first I was disappointed and thought I would have to replace the starter. Since I was already knee deep in the project, I decided to give it a try and to my great surprise it worked. And it works much better than the original. Replaced a failed starter motor in my Generac 12kw alternator. The fuse has blown, which can be caused by a bad battery, but not just the battery. The starter solenoid has failed. Works. I have a 2014, 14kW, model GT990. Note: The GT990 is not indicated anywhere other than in the owner's manual, neither on the alternator housing identification number nor on the engine nameplate. The hardest part of the installation was working on the rear/far side of the engine as this model will not have the rear panel of the housing lifted up and/or it will not be easy to remove to access the starter motor.
