Fits '98 Explorer for Parts

Seems to work great. Ford Explorer 98. The work of light. Key contacts are not difficult to press. It came with a cable but I used an OEM cable. Be sure to disconnect the battery cable to remove the airbag. The power button cable came off fairly easily, but the set/resume button wasn't easy to detach from the old cable. I didn't want to remove the steering wheel and run a new cable. Do not pull on the cord itself or you may pull the wires out of the connector.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Disappear

Perfect combination of parts

My old cruise control switch covers were cracked and worn so I wanted to replace them. They matched the old ones perfectly and were easy to install. I watched a few youtube videos before installing. One instructed me to remove the airbag and then the steering wheel. Another wanted me to dismantle the airbag and then the horn. Both are difficult and completely unnecessary. I simply removed the airbag and then CAREFULLY unplugged the old switches from the wiring harness and plugged in the new…

Great inexpensive replacement

Easy and inexpensive replacement for worn controls in my 1997 Explorer. There are many videos available on YouTube that demonstrate this simple solution. I recommend using the existing wiring so you don't have to disassemble the handlebars, but be extremely careful and take your time when removing the wires from the existing controls as they are difficult to remove and easy to break. Don't try to dislodge the connector by pulling on the wire (I used a small flathead screwdriver to slowly pry…

Better than the original

Installed them on my 2001 Ranger in less than 30 minutes. The only problem I had was finding the 8mm jack that I had lost. I only installed the switches, not the whole wiring harness. The new switches were easy to remove from the included cables, but the original switches were a bit more difficult to remove. If you have experience removing connectors from circuit boards or computers, you should have no problem removing the original switches. The switches themselves are of better quality than…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Out of style

Work like new. for interior switch

They replaced my torn and tattered control switches on our 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT. They are perfect and work just like the original set. I think if you are looking to replace these controls you know what is required. You must disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes to ensure the airbag can be removed. You remove the airbag with two nuts under round plastic covers on each side of the steering wheel, you can't miss them. Then you need to remove the wheel. It is held in place by a…

Good choice: Internal switches

This product is easy to install, works as it should, looks good and is well priced. Installation took about 20 minutes with minimal tooling and no special tools. Like others, I did not use the ribbon cable that came with the kit. The factory plugs fit perfectly. Read other reviews. They contain important installation information. Be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable to disable the airbag and once removed, set the horn and airbag aside and away from you just in case. There are 2…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Reliability

With the right expectations, this set is perfect. If you expect to get an OEM-accurate part, buy it directly from a Ford dealer and expect to pay. If you want to replace buttons that look very similar at an affordable price, then this is for you. ADVANTAGES: 1. OEM look and feel at a fraction of the price; 2. Perfect fit - perfectly adapted to the handlebar contour and perfectly aligned mounting holes; 3. Comes with a spare wiring harness. I left the original OEM wiring in place and did not use

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Quality

Same as OEM except the buttons are made of a durable material like silicone that seems to last much longer. The button skins feel a bit more elevated than the original, although to be honest every ranger I've had has had very few of these skins. Installation was easy; The hardest thing about the 2003 Ranger was pulling the wheel out, which doesn't have the side bolt holes that most wheel pullers require. Apparently a gear puller is the right device, but I've actually had success pulling left…
