They work fine for a few months and then the brass pins that pierce the wire rust and you either have to change them or take them apart and clean them, but then they rust again.

With such a simple design, it's surprising how often they fail. I've used at least 40 of these in my area and probably 20% are either completely out of service or need to be moved regularly to keep in touch. These guys must have very strong patent protection, otherwise I would have thought someone had come up with a better, less expensive solution.

The Achilles heel of my low energy outdoor lighting system is in the tiny wire that connects the lights to the power line. These lines are vulnerable to destruction from weeds, rodents and accidents. Existing connector that came with LED light died due to water impact on the system. One of the pins that went through the low voltage wire broke off. If it is interrupted, all power supply to the LED light will be cut off and the light will go out. This piece is great for cutting/splicing the old wire/plug and splicing/wrapping the new plug. Works like a charm and saves you from buying a new light assembly.

Easy connection to any 12V, 14GA. Cable. I had 5 lights in minutes. The hardest part is screwing the wires to the landscape light. My big complaint is the crappy nut. As others have pointed out, nuts aren't made for outdoor use, you bury them in, so consider them wet all the time. Thanks to someone's suggestion, I ordered some waterproof cable connectors.
