Sounds great looks great for the price

Well I'm not a good writer to really describe how great this sounds other than awesome. I heard details on my albums that I hadn't heard before and I'm very happy with the value for money and the quality of this product. Big big upgrade over my old Grado pickup and even my old ears can hear the dramatic difference. Very happy with Sumiko on my Technics SL-1700.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Fits

Good for its price range

Great cartridge so far. Use it on a 1980's Technics turntable. Update: After using it (lightly) for a month, I noticed that it produces an uncontrollable hiss/distortion at times. I've used professional alignment tools and protractors and I can't get them off. Some records are worse than others (all on new vinyl). I went back to my old Audio Technica cartridge and had no problems with it. As I said, I used it lightly, maybe 3-4 hours a week.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Annoying

Great cartridge for the price

I installed this cartridge on my Technics SL-D3 turntable and immediately noticed a difference in sound quality as it used the Clearaudio Concept V2 MM ( $250 pickup) replaced ) . back when I bought it about 3 years ago) and it has been used lightly to believe the needle was worn out. Rainier sounds very natural right from the start. There is also no internal groove distortion. Makes all my records sound great and gets better each time. Definitely highly recommended!

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Exceptional update

I used an AT95E carriage on a TEAC TN280. The car was pretty good, but after many hours of playing I noticed a drop in tonal clarity. I decided to upgrade and researched many brands, narrowing my choice down to Sumiko. Based on the great reviews, the specs, and the price I could afford, the Rainier hit the spot. After carefully assembling the car, which was fairly easy, I was blown away by the sound! The instrumental separation and range was great. I first heard the triangle in the song…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Beautiful pickup, the best for electronic music, DJs and karaoke

I have updated Shure m97x and AT95e installed on my VPI Traveler. This pickup has an openness and airy midrange that really pulls me into the music. Reminds me of live music. In addition, the bass improvement was significant. I listen to different genres. Jazz and rock'n'roll sound fantastic with this car (live). Shoegaze is one of my favorite genres and I feel like Sumiko's mid-range skills really add to the wall of sound and richness of the music. Take the time to align this cartridge and set

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • I am writing back

Excellent quality stylus and cartridge from Sumiko

Significant upgrade thanks to the Ortofon 2M Red cartridge that came with my first Pro-Ject Carbon turntable. The soundstage is much more refined and open. Bass and treble are pretty tight. Excellent quality cartridges, better quality than Ortofon (IMO) and cheaper in the long run too. Offers a simple and affordable upgrade to Sumiko Olympia Stylus and Moonstone. Overall I'm very impressed with this beat and would highly recommend this update, especially if you're a first-time Pro-Ject carbon…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • So-so
