💪 High-performance Superior Pump 94505 0.5 HP Cast Iron Jet Pump - Ideal for Shallow Well Applications Review

Not easy to refuel. Filling was no problem after I increased the PVC inlet size to 1" and replaced the hydro/rubber check valve with a PVC check valve. Now I don't have to upload it. Just turn it on and get water with great pressure immediately.

We had to order this item twice, the first arrived damaged, the second looked normal but after fitting the center gasket leaked. Since our old water pump no longer worked, we were unable to return the second one. We just lived with the leak but the pump still works. When this one dies, I'll get the next pump from a local plumber.

Pump works great. Threaded easily and I also set the Superior reference value to #99555. The value is plastic but works as it should, Teflon tape wrapped around the threads and hand tightened. My entrance from the lake is about 10 feet. lift up. Discharge 20+ feet above pump level. Good water pressure on sprinklers, 2 Rainbirds per line, 5 circuits total. There are no leaks and everything works as it should.

The pump pumps well. But it doesn't have a check valve to prevent water that has been pumped to pressure escaping back through the pump when it reaches pressure and shuts off. It's just stupid design. For a few dollars more, which the consumer would be happy to pay, a check valve should be built into the pump. If it had a check valve I would happily give this pump 5 stars.

I ordered a pump and wanted to install it. I found what was sent to me was a returned pump. I should have expected that when only one was available. I found that the pump had been repackaged and then sold to me. At first I was afraid that I wasted my money. They picked it up and sent me a new one the same day I arranged for the return. Which was great. I installed a new pump. the instructions were good.

Got this pump a little over 2 years ago and used it for irrigation averaging 3 times a week for about 3 hours per use (average time) which worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the pump stopped working 27 months after installation. Also according to the instructions, this pump is for indoor use only.

I bought this pump about 6 months ago. Installation was easy as I was replacing a similar pump. My system has a 35 gallon tank so I use it for car washes, hand watering and watering. I replaced a 1hp centrifugal pump that had a bad bearing and found it too big for my application anyway. In May I filled up my garden and planted two palm trees, so the pump has been put through quite a heavy use this summer. It seems well built.
