Surebonder 5540HOL Light Tacker Review

I will not buy again. The power of this stapler is not enough to pierce even the softest wooden staples. Bends over every passing staple.

This is an inexpensive and convenient tool. I just wanted to hang some garlands and could only find powerful staple guns. I doubted it would be a good buy. I was wrong. Loading staples is easy and the gun feels solid. I like that the bracket has a hole for the wire and an insulator. Very easy to use.

I bought this stapler to attach Christmas lights to a frame. Before I got this, I tried duct tape and a few other not-so-great solutions to achieve the same goal. I googled "Christmas Lights Stapler" which led me to this one. It definitely did the job and I was impressed with the overall design. My only complaint would be that the kit doesn't come with many braces or guards so buying a replacement would be fairly quick.

I set up my Christmas lights with this. I read a lot of reviews saying it wasn't great (I tend to read the bad ones) but I was pleasantly surprised at how basic it is. No, not all staples are included. And yes, I guess because they weren't driven all the way in, the strut path formed a little wobbly the entire time. I have clamps made for wires. But it was still quick and easy. 90-95% of the staples were received safely. And it was easy to use and didn't require much force.

Try as I might, I had to refuse this product. I bought it excited that it would hold the cords. I had very thin cords and couldn't fully insert the staples. I kept trying. I just gave up that idea. I don't know, maybe I just don't have the pressure in my hands to hold it to make that connection, but I have to press hard to hold the clamps. So. I would say if you have incredible hand strength, no don't buy it.

I first saw the clips for this item at a retail store and thought they looked simpler than the ones in a regular stapler. They didn't have the stapler in stock so I ordered one from Revain. This was the first time I hung the lights myself. I was concerned that the Surebonder 5540 would either require more hand strength than I had or that it wouldn't go through the wood paneling I attached it to, but I've never had any problems. I bought this to hang lights around the house for the holidays. I wish I could just use my regular construction stapler and save myself the hassle. I thought this construction stapler would be easier for fairy lights.
