dirty but works well

Every time you empty the trash can, a lot of trash falls down and makes a mess. I even tried starting the shredder manually before emptying the bin but it's still a mess. although it works well and sounds powerful.

Great Paper Shredder

Excellent shredder. I had no problem shredding entire junk mail envelopes or stacks of old bills. I suspect this shredder can handle those LARGE envelopes that contain a lot of coupons or if you're trying to shred multiple envelopes at once. This thing is quiet, efficient and holds a lot of scraps of paper. I have no complaints.

This list is incorrect

I recently bought a Revain Shredmaster GSX168 and the one in the photo is not. Rather, the block shown is similar to the smaller and significantly cheaper GEX106. #1758495 might appear for both, but I'm not sure of its source or meaning. Make sure you buy the right model. Check out the Personal Grinders section of the GBC website to find out. My GBX168 is a good product. I will list his rating with the appropriate widget.

Whole envelopes require more power

This is a top-of-the-line paper shredder. No worries here. I do shred junk mail though, usually whole envelopes at a time. For envelopes of medium thickness or even slightly thicker, you need to hold down the "Forward" button, which will tear them. The usual method, the auto-shred function, detects the thickness of the envelope and does not shred. However, pressing the "Forward" button will soon bring up the "Bin Full" indicator. Superior Self-Cleaning Shredder

I like the paper shredder very much. Be sure to get shredder oil - I like synthetic. I often use the reverse function to empty the shredder. You can only use the forward button/function when you press the power button, and if you press the forward button, the reverse button will not work unless you turn off the machine first and then on again.
