More like 9 ". Instead of messing around with it.

The measurements in the description were wrong. More like 9" instead of 6 inches long. Instead of agonizing over the refund I just went through with it. Worked fine but I tried picking up the one that came out of the light. I could have bought this one cheaper if I had known the sizing was wrong.

Very Good Product: Ballasts

Installs and works with 2 lamps. The price enables the ballast to be replaced in mid-range luminaires. Although these ballast mounting tabs differ from the original, they are easy to install with a few self-tapping screws. Replacing the ballast on an installed luminaire is certainly easier than taking the luminaire in for repair. I use a cordless screwdriver to install self-tapping screws.

Works great but a little installation issue for some installs.

Ballasts work fine but be aware of potential installation issues when replacing old larger ballasts. My 20 old T12 large magnetic ballasts were installed with two fixed screws aligned diagonally across the ballast. The holes on the narrower T8 ballasts are never far enough apart and I have to modify them with a file. It would be nice if the smaller ballasts had slots instead of holes on one end for easier fitting into older fixtures.

Inexpensive safety

I use these ballasts to replace the crappy junk sold in most lights. If I buy an inexpensive light and change out the ballast, I know what's in the lamp (rather than paying for an expensive light only to find out it has a 35 cent ballast) and can be sure that I'm going with can go out with the lights on and not come back into a house fire. Simple and straightforward installation, the length of the cables is more than sufficient for a 48" instrument. These ballasts start my T-8 lamps quickly and

Great product, works very well in my application

I used this to replace an old magnetic ballast in a fluorescent light in my laundry room. The original took a few seconds to light up after pressing the switch and then the light started flickering. Also needed a more powerful bulb. This product is a modern electronic ballast. The light shines instantly, does not flicker and consumes a less wattage bulb. Here's a link to a great YouTube video on the conversion: [.] This is the part he recommended (for a device). Significantly cheaper than…

Works great with ballasts

I bought eight of these to replace the T-12 units on all of our four foot T-12 fluorescent lights to save energy and money. Very easy to change and works great. All fixtures now work with 4ft T-8 bulbs. Now they turn on instantly, without heating and very quietly. The T-12 has always had a "humming noise" while the T-8 is very quiet. That alone was worth the cost and time to replace. It's supposed to use less power, but it's difficult to measure in a private home without some kind of pressure…

Unit looked used, flickered after installation

A new ballast (and new bulbs) installed but the same flickering problem as previously encountered on a 9 year old ballast of the same make and model. Thinking the problem was elsewhere we called an electrician who replaced the ballast again which fixed the problem. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that the ballast received is probably used or refurbished, with scratches and even some rust. (Not sure if this is relevant, but the screen printed label on this ballast isn't as sharp or even as…

Ballast of excellent quality.

If you are reading this you must have landed here after watching Ben Krasnow: Store Lighting Upgrades on YouTube, if not you should check it out. He highlights why he chose this range of ballasts for his upgrade and why they are a good choice. Easy to install, instructions are very simple. Fits exactly to the mounting holes on my existing ballast. Note: This ballast is for 2 lamp units. 2 lamps = QTP2X32T83 lamps = QTP3X32T84 lamps = QTP4X32T8 lamps The device will continue to work with the…

Great product and easy to install

I installed this ballast in about 10 minutes and fixed a broken 4ft T12 fixture for much less than a new one. The tombstones (the plugs that the bulbs screw into) are the same for the T12 and T-8, so all I needed was this ballast and new bulbs. The wires were simply plugged into the holes that the old wires came out of. I am very happy with this ballast! It turns on instantly, fits in the same screw holes as the old magnetic ballast and is very light. Don't be surprised if you see "OSRAM"…

Pros

Cons
  • Some small things

Replacing my T832 bulbs in the garage with Phillips LED tubes which are meant to work on a plug and play basis, ie using existing ballasts and brackets and no change to the wiring, I'm onto a fixture encountered that didn't glow with new LED tubes or known good T8s. Now I just want to say I don't understand how T832 bulbs wear out so quickly in a garage - the lights are timed and run for maybe an hour a day before turning off. And I've been looking through packs and packs of T8 which are…
