The neck of these otherwise great PAR lights doesn't fit all external sockets though. Piston front diameter and length are OK (same as Universal) but the threaded rod shoulder gets too thick too quickly. In fact, one of the bulbs we received as new had scuffs where it had previously been tested to not fit. and was returned to Revane. Ouch. Spring. Now you have been warned. This lamp gives a nice bright light. It is roughly the same color as the 150PAR38 Tungsten Filament Emitters that have been popular for many years. The light cone is slightly narrower than the older PAR38 spotlights, somewhere between a point and a beam. Contrary to some reviewers, I doubt it will be bright enough to annoy the neighbors. Low power consumption is a key advantage. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought these for a floor lamp in a room with a 16ft ceiling. I have tried a number of other incandescent, halogen and LED bulbs for this application but this is what I was looking for. They're really bright, but the bulbs are short enough, with a flat top, so there's no stray side glare; all the light goes to the ceiling. Warm white color 3000K pleases. They don't seem to get too hot so hopefully they'll last a few years.

Impressed so far. Let's see how long this goes on before a final opinion is formed. LED spotlights have already been launched. I wanted more light on the cars in the driveway so security cameras could see better at night. This one is much brighter. Illuminates a barn in the back of the yard. Maybe 100 meters further. No need for night vision on the camera. This thing allows him to see in full color at night. I was skeptical but pleasantly surprised so far.

I literally went to Home Depot thinking my old unit was bad. I spent money on a new socket, but it still won't screw in. Another bulb (I ordered two) worked fine. At $19 per bulb, I find them a bit pricey. At the moment I have replaced two movable lamps, there are three left. I bought a soft white (3000k) bulb. The light color is perfect and they are naturally bright. I appreciate that they are a real flood light and not a focused and pinpoint light. I am very happy with these lamps and can only recommend them. I have 3 dual bulb lights in the back of my house that have burned out the halogens. I first tried the Cree 120W replacement and wasn't thrilled. I was looking for the brightest LED spotlights I could find made by a reputable company and came across these.
