Not very strong - I actually had to press to open the lids of the jars and it didn't open the plastic cap on the toilet water bottle. I'm sorry I wrote a bad review.

I was delighted with this purchase and thought it would make my life easier. Very disappointed about that. Haven't opened a single jar since receiving it. He continues to sleep and turns over the lid. Not worth the money at all.

This little gadget is really cool. Easy to use and fun. Cover, adjust and rotate. No more feeling defeated by unruly cans. Gives me superpowers to open cans! Great gift for the elderly or those with arthritis. Or we wimps.

I broke my wrist a few years ago and have been opening jars for a hell of a long time since. I open them (eventually), but sometimes it hurts. This thing just makes it a breeze. Big enough to open almost anything, like jar sized jars of marinade/tomato sauce. "Teeth" adjust themselves without action. I also bought one for my elderly mother in law who has trouble opening things and loves her.

This opener is constructed primarily of stamped steel and should last a very long time. The best thing about the opener is the ability to use the T-handle, unlike other openers that look like pliers. The T-handle makes the knife much easier to grip. It's also adjustable from 1" to 4", offering the same ease of use for every cap size in its range. The bottom line is that it works well and won't break the bank.

One of the other reviewers suggested that this device would work much better if there was some sort of non-slip rubber pad on smooth cans. Tired of it sliding on almost every jar I tried to open with it, I decided to take this advice and cut 2 small pieces of the perforated sheet of rubber used to line the shelves to keep items on it from sliding and glue them to the curve opening handles. Over the years I've tried so many ways to make can opening easier. I threw away three of these last weekend because I decided I could rely on this little gadget. The one that fits under your closet has never worked. Now it's junk, along with two others I found in a dish drawer. Make sure you get them. It opens wide. Some look exactly the same but only open 2.5 inches, not enough to open jars of pickles and olives. I plan to order at least three more. One for my best friend, one for my daughter…
