Teal Trunk Silicone Sponge Scrubber Review

This is my first time using a silicone sponge. I took this one because I heard they are usually slippery. I had no problems with that. It's not slippery even when I'm not using a stylus. I also like the flat part of the sponge as it's easier to clean knives than risk cutting the bristles. Most importantly it doesn't smell and when I rinse it off the dirt just comes off. It's also fairly flexible, so it can easily handle specific locations.

These sponges are not suitable for intensive cleaning. The bristles break and fall out easily. I've only been using them for a few days and have noticed that the bristles are breaking. It cleans slime from plastic dishes well, and you can remove light debris from plates. However, if there is a lot of sticky material on the dishes or pans, using the cleaning side will not help to remove it all. I would look for another heavy duty scrubber because these don't do it.

I was dying to like them because I (like many others) am constantly looking for something that doesn't smell or get gross. But they just don't feel good when using them. It's hard to describe, but not only don't you feel like you're rubbing something, you just move your little silicone fingers. Unfortunately no answer. They arrived in a really nice box and looked like a super gift but I wouldn't do it as the recipient of the gift would be just as disappointed as I was.

I tried 5 different silicone sponges. A few months ago I gave up natural sponges for hygienic reasons. Most of them are slippery and difficult to clean, requiring you to constantly use cleaning wipes. Others easily cut knives while you clean them, or get holes from the scraper. I really wanted to like this silicone sponge/scraper because of its neutral color and dishwasher safe, but the quality is really lacking. I have washed several pots and pans, the silicone bristles started to loosen leaving empty holes with no bristles and the bristles just started falling off, this happened within 2 days of use! Looks like they'd be great for washing dishes. However, they don't hold soap, wash dishes with soap, or anything else you would expect them to do. Honestly, tinkering is more fun than cleaning (tactile). I started using it on my porcelain tile because it doesn't hold soap at all, which is only good for porcelain tile or cast iron.
