The second and third time I used the backpack it rained and I was able to pull out the rain hood and everything stayed dry. My family went out of their way to give me their electronics to keep them safe and dry and the hood did a great job. Ordered this pack for a hike in the South American Andes. We use carriers so we knew a smaller package would be great and didn't want the added weight of a large package. Just got back from the Uvarri National Forest after a half day hike of about 5 miles. This is now my favorite daypack. I'm 6ft 4in, 300lbs and I walk to get in shape. I'm comparing it to my Osprey moisture pack which is almost double the price. In a way, this backpack is actually better. Some of the features of this pack that the Osprey doesn't have are the sides, mesh water bottle pockets, hip belt pockets, whistle buckle, rain cover and cooling liner. Unfortunately, the new bladder had the same problem. However, I found a simple solution. Remove the rubber stopper from the end of the hose you are siphoning water from.
