SSD temperature dropped 8 degrees C

The 1.5mm thickness worked very well to bridge the gap between my Alienware 17R3 NVME SSD and the copper heatsink built into the case. As a result, after testing with transferring a large file (85GB), the temperature of the SSD dropped from 90°C to 82°C. At 90°C, file transfer slowed down due to throttling, but with the heatsink plate installed, file transfer became successful without throttling closed. I'm happy with the result. Works great on my XPS 15 9570

I have followed several guides I found online to resolve throttling issues and also manage the heat for gaming. Basically the pad from the FET has been attached to the thermal channel and also to another chip that is known to cause overheating issues. Since then I haven't had any more throttling or shutdown issues and I can FINALLY play it with confidence. I bought GPU and CPU thermal paste but decided to try it first as I saw some people had more problems after re-pasting.

excellent heat transfer properties for flat surfaces

I use 0.5mm and 1.5mm thick plates as the heat transfer layer with aluminum heatsinks placed on two metal case units - one subwoofer amp plate driving the bass shaker and the other is a cable company DVR that gets very hot. Highest rating for this product. I have a compact broadband security router (Ubiquiti USG) that is housed in a 5 inch chassis. x 5 inches. Metal, but fanless, case and gets quite warm. They are not good enough for the RTX 3080

I bought 1mm and 2mm thick pads as replacement thermal pads for my RTX 3080 to keep the GDDR6X memory cool. Installation was pretty easy, but that's the only good thing about these pads. Unfortunately, these thermal pads perform WORSE than traditional thermal pads. With the stock thermal pads, I was able to handle a +1300 memory overclock at 90% fans with a memory junction temperature of around 100-102C (which I felt was too hot).
