I brought this for my friend for Christmas, he uses it to make hot meals, soups, rice, chicken, noodles. Everything stays hot for 5-6 hours. If you are packing something small, fill the bottom container with boiling water. So everything stays hot. Just make sure you NEVER put it on its side as the food can seep into the next container. This item also goes well with soups and stews.

Bought for Dad. He works outside and can't heat up lunch. We loved the reviews. No matter how hard we tried to preheat the hot water tank by keeping the hot water on the bottom, there was nothing that could keep his food even a little warm. It's pretty cold when he eats dinner. That means about 4-5 hours after packing.

I really like this product. It was delivered on time. It is well made and worth the price. I soaked it in a mixture of vinegar and water overnight. After that I boiled some water and poured it in; it was around 9:00 p.m. When I got home around 7:00 p.m., it was still very warm. My only concern is that no extra plastic caps are included as they tend to wear out and break. So I'm seriously considering going back. (I really like it.) You can't buy them separately, by the way. As the name suggests, my lunch option just got expanded! Mainly to bring soups. It's also good for leftover pho because you can separate the soup and noodles. The second largest "bowl" gets messy if you bring soup, but it sits well in the lid so there's no mess on the table. It's around 6am and doesn't open until midday. Contrary to one of the reviewers' pictures, the one I received has no brand, no instructions, nothing but the thermos itself. Not the best design like some Japanese. But this is the only all-stainless steel available in the US that I could find. I tested it with boiling water and after 4 hours measured it was still pretty hot at 130 degrees. And after 12 hours it still feels warm. So I would say it works. I'll try to use it for lunch, see how it goes, especially if it's not runny. After all…
