This thing won't sit straight for life

So a big part of the flaring process is getting the parts flush so you can squeeze the tube and create flares. For me this thing was very difficult to use and I ended up 3D printing a clip to hold it together so I could even use it. Technically he did his job, but Jezz will be on the shelf from now on.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Great set but one small problem and no instructions

Fit and finish could be better but this is a great set for flaring and double flaring a variety of copper and steel tubing. I used it for brake hoses. The only major complaint is the lack of instructions (new users will have to watch a YouTube video or something), and in some cases the wing nuts can get in the way of torch clamp positioning. It's okay if you *CAREFULLY* move it at an odd angle, but it's still worth mentioning. I would say 8/10 recommend

This tool will save you a lot of money

It took me a few tries to figure it out. There are no instructions, so I went to the internet. Once you get the hang of it, there's nothing to it. I used it with cupro nickel tubing to attach all of the brake lines to our jeep wrangler. This work would cost us dearly in the workshop. I practiced a few times on small parts until I was convinced I could make a good flange. There were no leaks and the work was going great. If you are considering replacing your brake lines I would also suggest…

Medium Quality: Brake Flaring Tools

I bought this tool because of the double flaring capability. I looked at How To and after a few tries I was able to get usable flares with a 3/16 cupro-nickel brake line. The tool itself will benefit from some alignment pins which I will add before using it again. I had to polish the black reverse flare disc to allow the material to flow better at this step. The grip grooves in the clamp left marks on the pipe that I found unacceptable. I have an old single flare tool that doesn't scratch the…

You get what you pay for

Purchased for 3/16 dual stretch brake lines. It worked very well on a soft nickel-copper alloy tube. Regular steel pipe took a little more effort to flare and you have to be careful to align the mold halves but still manage to create those flares. I also had to do some fuel lines so I retired this kit. This flaring tool will not flare 5/16 stainless steel tubing. The tube is harder than the knurling in the die and trying to do a double or single flare simply resulted in the tube being pushed…

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Concise Manual

Good flaring tool for the money

I used this tool to make a brake line to connect my master cylinder to the proportional valve. I don't know if I or the previous owner damaged the 7/16 - 24 tube nut. The damaged threads made installing the brake line to the master cylinder difficult. Tightened a good 3/16 - 24 tube nut in seconds. I bought a 3/16 inch brass tube at a hobby store and stuck one end into the tool. There were no instructions as to how much of the pipe should be above the instrument. I've tried two different…
