While waiting for the two piece part to be installed it came in two separate pieces. That's why we actually installed them on two different shower walls. We are returning this set but would like to mention a few things we noticed that might help some customers. I'm giving 3 stars because they seem solid. As you can see in the photo, only the larger tile has a textured finish, while the other two have a smooth finish (which some others have mentioned as difficult to tile). I bought them for a do it yourself shower installation. The only downside was that they seem to be very flexible. Full frame installation along with some drywall grip glue on the back still didn't stop the inside movement. I've used the most flexible thin set I could find and haven't had any issues so far. They are so easy to install. The 2x4 fits perfectly over, in the middle and under these alcoves. I have built many alcoves locally but decided to purchase them to reduce leak points. The shelves are tapered so there is no need to oil the tiles to ensure adequate drape. I installed 2 of these in about 10 minutes and they are ready to tile whenever you are! They work great. A few things to remember.1. They could be placed anywhere. You will end up with 2 separate parts. 1 with attached small alcove and 1 without. You are completely independent. For example when I was looking to buy this I wanted a little alcove at the bottom but it was out of stock so I bought a picture here because I knew they were different and I could just swap them out so they were as I wanted2. This is a really strong, durable and well made product. However, the picture clearly shows that this is a one-off and as other reviewers have pointed out, it came in two pieces. But what hasn't been noticed in other reviews is that when you put the two pieces together, the distance between the middle shelf and the top shelf is different than between the middle shelf and the bottom shelf. Worked well. When working with tiles, I had to plan carefully to avoid small cuts, but I did it. I added a 1/2 inch cement board on the vertical side to allow the mosaic board to fit without too much fuss. Also, as mentioned, the plastic is quite thick and you need to take that into account when installing. In general, it's easier than creating your own niche.
