Difficult to solder: audio and video accessories

First off, this review is more about the process than the product. I was trying to fix the microphone end of my son's Xbox One headset. As a beginner, this was quite difficult for me. I tried almost all of these connectors and couldn't get the mic to work. There is little space to work with and the wires are very thin. In the end I gave up and bought new headphones.

Pros
  • Many fit
Cons
  • unreliable

Annoying when soldering, but they do the job and don't melt or warp from the heat of soldering. I poured two part epoxy into the cable opening after closing to keep it from falling apart, then shrunk it and it kept working. I used it to make my own Hifiman HE400i/s and Hifiman Supermini DAP balanced headphone cable. Did the job and cost a few percent of what the manufacturer's cable sells for.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Exorbitant piggy bank

Great headset jack replacement

This was a great little kit BUT that's what people who can easily solder small wires need. You need to make 4 electrical connections in a small space, so you'll need a soldering iron with a thin tip and some patience. I used it to fix the jack on my son's gaming headset. Instead of throwing away the $70 device, it was installed for 1/10th the cost of a new device. The hardest part was stripping the wires on the headset he has. The wires are tiny and the insulation is unlike anything I've seen…

Very good plugs. on connectors and adapters

I use them for a slightly different application, but the insulating plastic holds the heat well when soldering (if you know what you're doing). The same is not true of all brands of forks that come in this style. All 6 connectors in the kit are compliant. (They all fit correctly on the 3.5mm jack). The addition of heat shrink tubing, solder, and tweezers is a nice touch. This will likely be a problem for those who have no soldering experience. The 6 ports are of pretty good quality for this…

Not as difficult as I thought

The delivery was on time, the product arrived within the promised time. My boys got killed in their gaming system headphones. A headset will be used again after receiving this product. Some note that there are only three heat shrink tubes. They are long enough to be cut in half and still fit through the metal collar when assembled. It would have been nice to include a piece of paper for the device card, but it was included in the photo before I bought the item. The pads are small for soldering,

Excellent quality accessories and consumables

The quality is excellent, in particular: 1. Solder easily and quickly sticks to the contacts2. The insulating plastic between the contacts does not melt or deform3. The metal cap is very good, the shrink wrap is a bonus (hang a candle if you don't have a hair dryer at home), don't buy a similar product with a plastic cap. Pay attention to the headphone wiring, although most headphones these days use the left/right/ground/mic order, older headphones may use left/right/mic/ground. If your mic is…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • I'm worried

I have experience with SMD soldering less than 0.5mm pitch. Despite this experience, I have found trying to fix my 8 year old headphones unsuccessful even with these connectors. The connectors themselves are fine, seem to be of acceptable quality, but if anyone else is trying to fix this guy I'd really suggest just buying another pair of headphones. Headphone wires are mostly stranded copper (usually around 6-7 strands) made up of really (90AWG?) small individual wires. The location of the…

It's nice to have a solution to a headset problem

My purchase arrived in two days as advertised. The radio repair was completed in 30 minutes. I like the feel of the connector's heavier metal body. I also used thin solder as the material I had on hand was thicker and required extra heat/time. So I used several temporary connections to check the left and right channels, ground and mic. This was accomplished by prepping the colored wires with an emery board. Once the wire ends are a pure copper color, apply a dab of solder to them. Skip this…
