Seems to be working for now.

I bought this to help me decide when parts on my combine and hopefully other farming equipment will wear out. Most places where I can have catastrophic failures are difficult to measure in any other way. So far it's working well enough. I would have liked a little more range on the underside, but it measures in the specified range. I checked it on a sheet metal with a micrometer and it was within 0.010 inch which is close enough for me. I need only say where I have good steel and where I have…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Not very accurate on cast iron and painted mild steel, but works.

Purchased to check core misalignment on cylinder walls and wall thickness when porting cylinder heads. The supplied measuring disc measures very well, but is out of place on cast iron and painted sheet steel. The good thing is that it looks thinner than it really is, giving you some wiggle room. Maybe my results will improve as I improve, but for example my 6.5 diesel block has a baffle thickness of 10.25mm. The machine says the thickness is 10.1mm. Just in case, I've tried all the settings…

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Something else

Worth the money to check the cylinder block as it's cast iron. Calibrate with the steel block turned on, then toggle the material mode. You will find that checking the calibration block with a gauge with a different material setting will not give a calibration value since the block is made of steel. So you know it balances the choice of material. I did the first accuracy tests on gray cast iron surfaces, which I was also able to measure with a caliper. It has decent accuracy even if the surface
