Cheap parts, cheap cables, one of the cables to a speaker broke and the sound was mediocre. My phones are designed to turn off the headphone output when they realize nothing is plugged in and these speakers don't seem to have good jacks to make a solid connection, the output goes out all the time, that never happens with regular headphones . Just purchased and installed in my Shoei RJ Platinum helmet. They fit perfectly into the cut-outs in the helmet. I didn't even use glue and they are safe. Connected my iPhone and WOW. Great little speakers. I rode my bike (Honda Goldwing) first on the surface roads with various speed limits (up to 45 mph) and then on the freeway where I hit 80 mph to test the sound. I really like these speakers. I use them in my racing helmet to communicate with the mechanics on the track. Before the purchase I wore headphones under a balaclava. They were PITA because they came out of my ear half the time I put the helmet on my head and I had to take the helmet off to fix it. I bought these speakers to use with my Chatterbox X1 Slim because the speakers that came with Chatterbox were the worst speakers ever. They distort the sound, crackle and have no bass. Very good, a bit expensive but better than the original speakers that came with my Cardo Scala Freecom. I can actually hear parts of songs that I couldn't hear with my previous headphones, there's good separation and clarity of sound.
