THAT DOES NOT WORK! in Accessories and consumables

I installed the driver TWICE, but the icon for the device is not ready in any way. After installation, the device cannot be accessed. THERE IS NO ICON AND YOU CANNOT FIND THE DEVICE IN THE START MENU. There is NO WAY to talk to the device or tell it what to do. I think the only thing this product does is install Chinese spyware on your system. An absolute piece of non-working garbage. You need to transfer the video to your computer. However, when I tried to follow the POORLY WRITTEN…

Works perfectly! to Video Converters

I used this to import VHS and Super 8 videos to my computer. I am using Windows 10 with PowerDirector 15 as recording and editing software. I didn't install the capture software from the TOTMC disk, only the drivers for the capture device. My film program recognized the signal and I kept running. First, I turn on the camcorder or VCR, then plug the capture device into the USB port. Next, I run my program (PowerDirector 15). When I go to my capture window in PowerDirector, I select "Capture from

Not impressed so far

My computer doesn't have a CD/DVD drive so I went online to try and download drivers for this device. Should be an easy process, but no. You need to register an account, add the drivers to your cart, check out, and then try to download the drivers using the 404 link in the email they send you. I don't think they could have taken a simpler process (downloading a driver) and made it more confusing. If I manage to download and install the drivers I might update my review, but so far I'm not…

An affordable alternative

Works great! I copied three 20-year-old family videotapes onto my computer's hard drive. The tapes were already deteriorating, if I had waited longer the color of the films would have deteriorated exponentially. Along with the adapter they supplied a CD with the program I needed to convert the files. After completing the setup and connection, all you have to do is run the entire movie so the program can record it and then convert it to an mp4 file. You may need to adjust the settings of the…

Garbage. Other 1 star ratings are 100% accurate.

Drivers on hard drive are very buggy/poorly written. If you experience problems, you may need to restart your computer. If that doesn't help, stand on one foot, jump around in a circle, and say the alphabet backwards 17.5 times (no more, no less). When the device finally shows up in your device manager, it's time to start using the terrible software provided. In the software, click the record button and pray that your device shows up in the "Source" drop-down list. Then you can click the…

Works as advertised, but be ready to experiment with some settings.

Works as advertised. Unless you're particularly tech-savvy, you can probably assume you're going to have a hard time getting things to work properly. I had to dig my old VCR out of my mother's closet, set it up and hope it still worked properly. When I plugged it into my Windows 10 PC, the video was shaky and blank spots appeared quite often, so I started playing around with things. I've had some success by changing the bundled software to "compatibility mode" in Windows. by right-clicking on…

Does everything except Save file

I was looking forward to using this product, especially after seeing some people using Windows 10 successfully. So upon arrival I immediately connected the cables, installed the software, did all the updates and started - before the process. For what it is and for the backups I plan to take, the picture quality was decent, as was the sound. Everything went well. Showbiz), I hit stop. At this point, this 4.5 to 5 star product started losing stars. The file was NOT saved. I keep getting the…

Easy to use for non-engineers like me.

The instructions were almost illegible because of the small font. I took a photo with my phone to enlarge it, but even that was difficult because the print quality was poor. Fortunately, the connections are direct. Please note that these plugs do not replace the normal plugs used to connect the device to the TV. This is a converter that connects to standard RCA cables and then to your computer via a USB port. The bottom of the installation message states that you must restart your computer…

Finally -- a working video grabber

I had no idea that finding a good USB 2 video capture card would have to be such an exercise in frustration, perseverance and patience. After I bought, tested, and returned two more, TOTMC finally proved good enough to give me high-quality video and audio for creating video files and burning DVDs from my old VHS tapes - but not without some extra hassle. First I bought a Diamond VC500 with a high rating. It came with good software and was easy to install and use, but it produced noisy video…

but sometimes there is no better way to transfer an older video, so have a .

Composite video devices are becoming increasingly rare, but sometimes there's no better way to transfer old video, so a small, cheap and reliable device like this belongs in the rarely needed but necessary category. I needed to transfer stored video from a TWC DVR - the only options are Composite or S-Video, both are supported by the TOTMC capture device. The price is good, so I ordered. I arrived quickly, unzipped and installed the drivers from the floppy on Win7-64 with no problems. After…
