Be careful with versions.

Neat product. This is actually the 2nd one I've bought. C7 is not officially supported by DD-WRT (router specific firmware), but there are beta builds. [A]mazon also sells a variant of the A7 for which custom firmware is hard to find. Otherwise the product works as intended.

Pros
  • Nice thing
Cons
  • Very expensive

Hardware Version Warning - I was sent an ancient V2 router

As of 2019 this unit is on the hardware version. 5 but the one I received is only the version 2 model. Many improvements have been made over the years. Very poor product information from Revain Renewed and also a waste of time from them. The seller was Quality Photo.

Pros
  • Handsfree

Refurbished Version

This is the updated version. Upon opening the box the unit looked scratched which is normal but when I plugged it in to set it up it wouldn't even stay on the lights just kept flashing and that was it. Don't check stuff before sending it back. Should have known better than trying to save a few bucks by just buying a new one next time.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Like new except for a plain box but what's the difference.

The device was version 5 and still had plastic on it. So impressed with the wifi on this one. Maybe my Linksys e6900 broke but I did signal tests with my Android phone outside my home and this C7 works very well. The software was better than my Lsys so I'm very happy with this router. Mastered this with ethernet for my old Lsys (bridged) to the other side of my house, but this TP still doesn't boost my Lsys signal everywhere outside.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Does not boot when connected to WAN (factory setting)

Wrote a review yesterday. Finally managed to get it working with some guesswork and testing. This is definitely NOT plug and play for most people. I have spectral internet and didn't want to get the WAN parameters correct. Turns out I solved my problem by doing one of two things and I got the WAN connection green light and stopped the hanging. 1: Disable ICMP proxy. Or 2: Rename the router host. name something without an underscore "_". Also, I changed the router's IP address from 192.168.0.1โ€ฆ

  • Robust design

Better than my old router

I was expecting a slightly stronger signal as I read somewhere that up to 50 devices can be connected but it's decent and better than my 6 year old Netgear which doesn't kept up with all of our smart TVs and satellite dishes, phones, tablets etc. We have 8-9 devices connected regularly. Unfortunately we couldn't install it in the middle because the coaxial cable enters the satellite house. I'm sure the signal would be stronger if it were in a better location. In general I am satisfied and theโ€ฆ

Excellent customer service!

Support helped me on the phone, I have a TP LINK modem and router. I unplugged my router and found that my modem still works but my router doesn't. Support called me to get my router back online and working again. Thank you TP LINK support team! Excellent customer service for everyone I spoke to. I had 2 online chats in 2 days, one was my fault, I was too tired to continue troubleshooting so I restored the chat the next day and then called to make it easier by using my phone for called forโ€ฆ

Ideal! Networking products

My broadband access is 100Mbps, so this router is more than adequate for my needs. The first one I got wouldn't connect to the WAN. I set up a refund with Revain and actually received it next day without returning the old one! Well! It worked 200% better than any other router I've had (Dlink, Linksys, Edimax), with Edimax being the worst (it went off the WAN at least once a week and never automatically reconnected). I have 6 Wi-Fi cameras, 3 tablets, 4 computers, 2 Google Chromes, a Roku TV and

10x faster than my previous old router

My Wi-Fi speed has literally increased 10x after replacing my super old router with this one. I thought it was a Comcast issue but took the risk of replacing the router and it worked great. You can see my speeds before and after the speed test (before photo above, after photo below).
