2nd Time's A Charm (TEW-692GR)

I have been building wireless networks for over 10 years. I've used all the usual suspects (Belkin, Linksys, Netgear, etc.). I used to use TRENDnet routers for friends and family and for myself I was using the TEW-651BR (for $12) for over 3 years (permanently connected) when I decided I needed an upgrade. BENEFITS - Easy to set up. This may not be fair as I'm familiar with setting up TRENDnet, but I don't think anyone would have any trouble setting it up. Modem to router, router to PC. Open…

Defective and unimpressed

I spent a lot of time browsing routers and finally settled on this one which I bought new for $40. Although it has few features, it seems to have been rated as a reliable performer. The first issue I noticed was that it was only limited to a theoretical speed of 150Mbps. The signal range was ok, but not surprising, it dropped significantly one floor up. Everything seemed to be working fine until I tried running an internet speed test; The connection broke completely for a minute. After playing…

waste of time! on Network Products

Short Verdict: Would give a minus star if there was one. Save some money and look elsewhere! Long story short: I've been using the slow but reliable LinkSys WRT54G for years! And its solid rock. Finally decided to switch to 60Mbps internet service, saw one for sale at Revain and ordered it. When it works, it works well, but only randomly and for a short time. The router's WAN connection is very weak, if any, it takes a long time. And multiple reboots are often required to properly connect to…

Don't buy it's a risk

I bought this router about 2 months ago. It was very easy to install and program. However, a few days after the installation, problems with the Internet connection began. After contacting the manufacturer and doing a lot of research, one thing became clear to me. Internet connection problems are very common with this router and no one knows why. It simply starts shutting down a few days after installation and then continues with more frequent shutdowns thereafter until it becomes completely…

Works great with routers

I chose this router for its features and price. I have an ATT 2Wire gateway with a built in wireless router so I thought it would be difficult to set up. When I first connected it to the 2Wire gateway, it connected via the wired computer without any problems, but of course the wireless part had to be configured. I tried setting up "master", followed all the instructions, but lost all internet connections (so I put four). So I did the following steps manually and they worked for me. Maybe these…
