So far so good: Clutch locks

works as it should. A 5/8 pin insert is essential and should work fine for this size. I used it for 1/2 inch. A star was deducted because this rubber cap is not part of the device, just a small round gasket that slips over the end and falls off easily. I won't lose it for sure and the cap doesn't hold up very well either, although it's good for the price.

Good quality, nice looks but difficult to use

I love the look of this product. It offers superior security for fancy towbar covers and still looks great thanks to the high quality chrome finish. But I'm having a hard time using it. Anyone who often swaps the decorative panel for the ball rod will quickly get tired of the annoying unlocking procedure. I have to admit I just gave up and now I'm holding the ball all the time!

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

. When I traded vehicles, a new hitch needed 5/8". I wish I had tried this product initially. I could save money, have a receiver lock (the other one doesn't lock) and be able to 1/8 2 or 5 /eight". I find the lock a bit "tough", but I've read reviews, who suggested using something like WD-40 from the start.I am very happy with this purchase! The delivery was prompt!

  • . Slim design

Securely sealed but rusty

I like to wait a bit before writing a review and here's why. The Trimax TS32 receiver lock was a bit too big for my Ford Sport Trac receiver, but I knew it would be because of the size of both and solved it by cutting the foam tube on either side of the handlebar. . What I didn't expect was that the knurled parts of the lock would start rusting so quickly. It hasn't rained that much down south, and we're not on the Gulf Coast, so I can't figure out why there's rust, but it's there. Just a…

Amazing lock, works great

We bought this look to get through our flagpole in the garden. We needed a way to protect the pole so it wouldn't be stolen but could be removed if necessary. This lock works great. It passes through a PVC pipe cemented into the ground and through a metal flagpole. This lock is perfect. It's been outside for over a year and still hasn't rusted. I can't remember now if he said it wouldn't rust or not, but he didn't. It worked so well we passed the idea on to 2 of our neighbors and a family…

I would buy it again and recommend it to others.

I bought this to attach a bike rack to a car hitch. This lock replaced the standard curved pin. The dimensions of this lock are perfect for my standard 2 inch hitch. I've only been using this lock for a few weeks so can't comment on its weather resistance. It's winter now so I'll find out in a few months if the design can handle the snow, salt and rain to come. The key and locking mechanism seem to work well. The locking end has some excess movement, but that's probably on purpose. From what…

Look elsewhere for good outdoor accessories

I have used this twice exactly - on a sunny day last summer and another this spring, always with the rubber cap on. On the second attempt to take it off, the key only turned about 45 degrees, so it wouldn't unlock. Then I tried a second key which I noticed was a slightly different number and again it stopped at 45 degrees but didn't turn to remove the key. I ended up having to cut it off with a saw, which took a few seconds. So 1) the locking mechanism was poor, 2) shipping with different key…

A very versatile lock. One size fits all! Rusted almost immediately!

That's a great lock, especially as it will fit any hitch you have. 1/2" and 5/8"! We mistakenly bought the wrong size without seeing that double size and they sent us a new one and got it in a day and a half even before he returned the original for free. The lock is clear, strong, and made in the USA. ***UPDATE*** In less than 6 months this lock is covered in rust and pits. We live in San Francisco and this lock needs to withstand cold, heat, sea weather, etc. I only use it to prevent my FORD…

Works as advertised

very happy with locking pin. The reason I bought it was so I didn't have to worry about my ball or beaver crotch getting pinched. Pen with socket installed works with standard 5/8" receivers. Using a socketless 1/2" Class II pin would result in too much side slip on one of these tiny receivers because they are so narrow. There is no spacer, but that's ok. I like being able to use it in a car trailer if needed. Versatility. Sleeveless 1/2" pen rated at 22,000 lbs. The 5/8" pin with sleeve is…
