Roasted by itself in 18 months

I used this on my washer and dryer because I live in Arizona where rainy season thunderstorms can cause surges that damage modern electronically controlled equipment. This seemed like the perfect solution for that. I went to do laundry this weekend and the dryer wouldn't turn on. I examined the device and found that it had moved slightly away from the wall. When I tried to push it back against the wall there was a pop and a flash and that was it. Luckily the circuit breaker worked but now I…

Great price for a quality device.

The Isobar Conditioner/Surge Protector with dual outlet Tripp Lite straight plug is an excellent safety device to protect sensitive electronic equipment from power surges and surges, however it is not designed to protect against lightning strikes, power outages (power failure) or slight voltage fluctuations characteristic of the power grid. It would be nice if these devices would block all current when a power surge occurs. But that would also be a major inconvenience because there could be…

Direct connect is dangerous

Tripp Lite direct connect surge protector has a downside. The connector is attached to a metal box with plastic. It is easy to separate from the metal box. I had one that was loose enough to short out, sparks and smoke and all. I am including photos of a shorted surge protector, what the early stages of plug loosening look like, and the burn marks on my wall from a short. I am also replacing all of my straight connectors with an Isobar 2 surge protector strip with a 6ft cable. Tripp Lite Isobar

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING AND HOW AND IF IT WORKS FOR WHAT YOU NEED!

First off, I'm NOT an electrical engineer, so "I think I know" comes from a lot of Google articles (not reviews). I read about surge arresters and how they work... work differently. What matters to you might be different than what I think about it, but here's what makes sense to me. 1. Anything with a hard drive (game consoles, computers without their own battery, desktop hard drives) as well as a game console TV and anything you need or want to use when the lights go out: should run on backup…

Great price for a quality device.

The Tripp Lite Dual Outlet Isobar Air Conditioner/Surge Protector with Straight Plug is an excellent safety device for protecting fragile electronic equipment from power surges and power surges, but it is not designed to protect against lightning strikes.
