So far so good ! for power strips and surge protectors

The product was as advertised but it took a week to arrive. It connects easily. I can't say it worked on bursts because I don't know if I got them. and i only had it for about two weeks.

Pros
  • Heavy duty
Cons
  • Good but not great

Great Tripp Lite product

I have been using Tripp Lite products for years and have never had a problem. I have used this product as a phone line surge protector for my alarm system. The first thing you notice during a thunderstorm is usually the telephone line.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Lightning protection

I've already been hit and lost my DSL modem and my router. I installed this and it saved my hardware. The connection cable on the wall was black on the inside and shorted. DTEL2 was also short-circuited. I replaced the connection cable and the phone and internet worked again. I called customer service and they quickly honored the lifetime warranty and sent me a new one. Excellent customer service.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • clarity

I really wanted this to work.

I hate writing bad reviews on Tripp Lite products. I have their light suppressors on my TVs and love them. I sincerely believe they will sacrifice themselves to save my TV. However, this thing has slowed my wifi down to a minimum. I thought you shouldn't have done that. Well I guess I'll just have to rely on phone company grounding methods to protect against lightning strikes.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Hard to say

My Devices Saved - Power Strips and Surge Protectors

Every year we lose phones, DSL modems and other networking equipment to lightning. I added this to the line and we were struck by lightning again this morning and this device took the hit and saved our gear. We heard it pop when lightning struck and now it doesn't work, but it protected all downstream equipment. This device does exactly what it is supposed to! I ordered another one to be prepared for the next storm.

Pros
  • Consistent Test Results
Cons
  • Reliability

He did his job! for surge protector

Bought and installed on my DSL modem 2 weeks ago. Ground it to the socket on the switch next to the socket. Today I had a power outage for about 5 seconds. When the home accessories were turned back on, the router had no internet. Rebooted several times before realizing the surge protector had bitten the dust. I turned off the surge protector and now the internet works for me, I'll write this one and order another. Too bad I lost it so quickly, but I'm glad I didn't have to change my router! It

Almost a must

My phone went offline after a recent thunderstorm. I determined that the problem wasn't with the line at my home or shop, and called the phone company. A communications worker found an old surge protector in a junction box near the house. This must be installed by the previous owner. He was short circuited and apparently gave his life to save my internal phone equipment. Unfortunately the label on the device is long gone and I couldn't find a direct replacement. So I bought two of these. Like…

Works with Uverse, but connect correctly.

I'm on my first day of installing a DTEL2 surge protector for my customer. I used it on the line between the incoming phone line and the plug of an AT&T Uverse router where you plug in the RJ11 plug. The textured media center was all plastic, so I had to ground it to the body of the nearest circuit breaker panel, being careful not to extend the extra ground wire any longer than necessary. I have a client in a 30 sqm. Homes with an unusually high rate of equipment failures, usually after…

Protects your modem, router and computer from data line surges

Why did I buy this product? My modem, router, and computer power supply all died around the same time. Lightning is rare in my area, but I suspect random power outages, some just before equipment failures and during the life of these components, were the culprits. To protect my gear, I first bought a UPS box. However, I have found that my devices are still vulnerable to surges from the DSL line. DTEL2 protects my modem, router, and computer from surges that can get in "the back door," as they…
