Not a bad buy in Engine Cooling & Air Conditioning

I bought this cooler as a replacement for my 1997 Toyota 4Runner to avoid the "strawberry milkshake" that can come with these trucks; originally wanted to buy KOYO A1998 but couldn't find it. Installation wasn't excruciatingly difficult; It took a bit of fiddling to line up all the holes and it doesn't fit very well, but it's more than adequate for your cooling needs. Would buy again. Please note that a replacement radiator cap is NOT included.

  • Absolutely amazing!

Great cheap replacement for a standard heatsink

Great cheap replacement for a standard heatsink. I ride off-road a lot, sometimes in relatively high heat (high 90s to 100s). While driving I turn the AC on full blast and haven't had any overheating issues. However, the screw holes didn't line up perfectly. They were maybe a millimeter or two, so I had to put screws in them. I was concerned that the cooler would not be very reliable, but as I said, I do a lot of off-roading and the cooler is robust. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Periodicity

Basically a direct replacement for a factory radiator on a 2000 Toyota 4Runner. There was some misalignment of the mounting bolt holes on this radiator, which required removing the mounting rails from the radiator and installing the rails in the truck, sliding the radiator into place, and then using great leverage to pull the bolts out. back to the radiator housing for installation. Apart from this issue (which caused the installation to take around 45 minutes) everything was as expected andโ€ฆ

  • Easy install

Cooler worked fine after I installed it. Climbing a 100 degree hill while towing a 3,000 pound trailer passed the test! The only complaint is the cheap welding of the nuts that attach the radiator to the truck. 2 of them break off easily because the heatsink wasn't perfectly aligned when installed. I had to improvise and use some nuts from an old radiator to install it. Take care when installing unless it is perfectly aligned. The tiniest and easiest twist as you cross thread the bolts into the

2000 4Runner in Radiators

Purchased to replace the stock radiator on a 2000 4Runner. Arrived on time, in perfect condition, no damage to the cooling fins. Initially there were mounting hole alignment issues, but they solved this issue by removing the side brackets on the radiator and installing them first to align with the mounting holes on the car. I then simply slid the main piece back in and screwed it in to properly position the heatsink. Be careful when removing the screws from the mounting bracket as they canโ€ฆ

Didn't want to come.

I originally ordered a Denso radiator for my '98 Toyota 4runner but on delivery I found the overflow pipe was broken so I had to send it back - Revain made it very easy. Unfortunately, Revain did not stock this radiator so I was unable to get the exact model returned. I was disappointed because the Denso was OEM and was only $140. Needless to say I read that Koyo blocks were very good aftermarket radiators and they are sold by Revain which is TYC registered so I went with this block. As far asโ€ฆ

I didn't have a Koyo but it works

I have successfully installed this radiator. I have a feeling it will work fine, but I just installed it yesterday. I read that TYC radiators were simply rebranded as Koyo radiators and came in a Koyo box. This was not my experience. The box said TYC and nowhere Koyo. I also had a small issue with the screw holes not matching up perfectly. Screwing in the screws required some effort. I've found this to be doable by moving the heatsink back from its mounting point about half an inch and thenโ€ฆ
