This is actually a major improvement over the original mirror as it curves back in such a way that the original cannot break.

This was a new and correct mirror for VW. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because the picture shows the black mirror I was looking for, but it was actually gray and ready to be painted. Because of this I had to send it back.

It was easy to paint and then VW made it difficult to install as it is very easy to put a screw in the door during installation (and difficult to remove ). . All in all it took me about an hour to install. If you know what you're doing, you can do it in 15 minutes. I spent 20 minutes trying to get a screw that fell out of the door.

This replacement mirror is just what I needed for my wife's car. It's worth a fraction of what the VW dealership wanted or how much the body shop asked for a part from a retired car (if they could find it). The only small downside is that you have to paint it yourself to match your car. But getting a can of spray paint to match is no problem. The piece was everything I expected and I saved a lot of money.

Looks the same as the original side mirror except it has a metal frame to support the mirror which is a PLUS for me! It also came with an indicator light, which was amazing. If you're thinking of mixing parts like the light, this mirror's OEM coverage will do, but you may have to cut/shave off some plastic to make it fit. Once you get everything working it looks, fits, works as expected.
