Purchased to fix unreliable NVME M.2 SSD

Mainly a header. I had an NVME M.2 SSD that wasn't recognized by UEFI/BIOS or Windows 10 Pro and bought it to see if the controller would see the drive. Nothing. I returned the disc to get my money back but this case was so beautiful and easy to use that I decided to keep it. work great.

  • . Good thing
Cons
  • Legacy model

It works quite well

I installed a Samsung 970 Evo in it. Initially it didn't work, Windows gave an error "Invalid Operation". , you need to push the drive further into the slot than you think and then snap it into the plastic latch. After work, it's fast enough to saturate USB 3.0. Samsung and some other manufacturers use the heatsink label. on your hard drives. I didn't install the included silicon/metal heatsink and that wasn't a problem, but if your drive has bare chips it should be installed.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Good idea, poor implementation

Really well made product on the outside. The device itself is made of aluminum, the ends are fixed with 4 screws. Removing the screws allows you to remove the circuit board and install the drive. However, the latches that hold the disc are shorter by about 1mm, so the discs don't snap into place. This means if you try to install it, the drive will either be loose (and could touch the aluminum case) or you'll have to try operating it without the case. Neither seemed like a good idea to me, so I…

Doesn't work out of the box.

I've tried both Intel 660p and Samsung evo and neither of them work with this case. An Intel showed up as a drive, I tried copying 10GB of video and it just stopped working after a few seconds. I'm not sure if it's an overheating problem or a bad chip problem, it's not my problem but it's coming back. I tried with USB 3.1 and USB C connector with the same problem. I have a Sabrent and it works fine. Edit: Started working again, but I'll test it again to make sure it doesn't crash. Windows…

I removed my old NVMe drive from the motherboard and put it in the Unitek S1204B case. When I connect an external USB enclosure to my PC, Windows does not initialize the drive. What I've tried: - Convert to MBR (failed) - Convert to GPT (failed - The specified drive won't be converted because it's smaller than the minimum size required by the guid) - Diskpart can select the drive, but no other commands work . I know it's a perfectly working drive, but I can't get it to work, let alone format…

Works well and compatible with all USB devices

This worked from both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A on all USB ports I tried ( 2.0 and 3.0). Other cases didn't work because they required too much power and the computer couldn't initialize them. It's getting warm, but not that bad. USB-A port speeds are around 270 writes and 430 reads using an older Toshiba THNSN5256GPUK 256GB m-key NVMe drive I pulled from an updated Dell XPS laptop. It was 300/900 with a USB-C to USB-C cable. This was used by AJA System Test 2.1 and the settings were…

Superb full speed tool-free NVME case over USB 3.1

This case is well made and looks solid in an aluminum body. The case slides off and the NVME SSD is held in tension by a plastic clip. No screws or tools required. Also included is a thermal pad and a metal strip for heat transfer. I don't like having thermal pads permanently attached, but it still works well if you just place the pad and metal strip on top of the SSD and then close the lid tightly. I tested the data transfer and attached the pictures you can see. - More than 1000MB. / s (8000…

Indispensable for technical support!

I bought the Unitek M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure on sale for $19.99. I needed a client data recovery and transfer case for my tech support. It might feel a bit cramped for an 80mm M.2 drive in an enclosure, but it stays in place and pulls out with relative ease. You don't need screwdrivers or tools to open the case or insert M.2 flash drives, and the whole process can be completed in seconds once you get the hang of it. My only complaint is the small USB-C 3.0 cables, which are around 7 to 10 cm…
