Perfect MK1 replacement

Excellent ignition lock, just what I needed. A lot of the cheap ones don't fit. This one fits right in and works perfectly!

Great low cost upgrade for VW Bus

Matches directly to our '78 Bay Window VW Bus! Feels great - better than the other one we had (which was still usable) simply because it clicks so well.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Functionality

It's good that I kept the old one that just worked.

It has only served two years and has failed completely with no sign of degradation. Good thing I left the old one, which only worked half the time in the van, and was able to drive home with it. Lesson learned. Buy a brand name and buy two of these.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • There are problems

Good replacement for switch

Installed in a 1987 VW Cabriolet. Relatively easy to install and works well. Great replacement switch! Fixed a number of electrical and starting issues related to the old worn out switch. Note that this design was used in MANY VW model years. Make sure you have the correct part number and you will be fine.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Volume

1976 Volkswagen Super Bug. Works perfectly.

Superbeetle 1976, standard transmission that worked "knock knock knock" and didn't roll over about 98% of the time. After cleaning all the grounds and positive connections, replacing the starter magnet, replacing the brass bushing in the gearbox housing that carries the starter and adding the Bosch starter relay, there was only one part left to replace. Stupid ignition switch. With the new switch, the car now switches over immediately. Figuring out how to replace the front derailleur was not…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • old
