Too many glitches to recommend

As a result of using this product, I found that the digital display often displays incorrect numbers, making it unreliable. The device is also difficult to navigate, with confusing buttons and settings. The only upside is that it's compact, but that doesn't make up for its flaws. I wouldn't recommend this product for any automotive needs.

Pros
  • Compact
Cons
  • Glitchy display, confusing controls

Prepare lots of 2N3904 transistors!

The forward voltage on these LEDs is high enough that you can't even drive these segments with a single 5V DO microcontroller. You have to drive an NPN transistor with your MCU for each segment, which of course adds 16 more components and a bunch of extra wiring (if you put base current limiting resistors on each of your transistors). However, when it comes to build quality and performance, they are top notch. Very bright, very solid and interesting to look at.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • High Price

Great product but needs to come with spec

This 7 segment display works great after I figured out how it works. I couldn't find a datasheet for it online, and the image provided only shows which pins are which. With the specs posted on Revain it seems you can run this at 5V, but I had to use 9V with 470 ohm resistors for each segment. I suppose after troubleshooting I'd say that each LED is listed as having an average forward voltage of 2V, but that wasn't obvious to me. This might be obvious to a more experienced person, but now I can…

Pros
  • Power Accessory
Cons
  • So So
