This is clearly made for big round pencils and when sharpening flat carpenter's pencils it sticks and squeezes out. The point achieved on a flat pencil gives a long taper and great lead exposure on the narrow side, while lead is barely visible on the flat part. Especially at work, a knife is still the best and cheapest way to sharpen a carpenter's pencil.

Very cheaply made. The blade isn't sharp at all or set at the wrong angle - you could get a similar result with a butter knife. Pencils don't turn easily (due to blade issues) and you can actually feel resistance when you have to work your muscles.
