This filter does NOT remove chlorine or chloramine! :(

I am very frustrated. I have been using this shower head filter for almost two months to filter out chlorine and chloramine. I have Lyme disease and it is very important for me to remove toxins where possible. My Mann is a certified water quality analyst in town and tested the water yesterday using a community test kit.He tested it for chlorine and chloramines almost 10 times and the results show no difference to the amount of chlorine and chloramine in the water coming from water treatment…

Great filter! But it doesn't drain water. Sonaki, add a bleed valve :)

As many have written here and as I also wrote in response to people's comments, in a clear plastic container that holds the filter after the water is in the shower was turned off. Rotating the filter "vertically" so it's pointing up doesn't seem to help. But I have found that loosening the nut above the filter (where it attaches to the shower water outlet) causes the vacuum to break and water to flow out. So I installed a Delta 2 bypass valve at this point so I can "pump" the line after every…

This filter definitely keeps what it promises. I tested the water coming out of a shower faucet with a filter, and then I tested the water from a bathtub faucet without a filter for chlorine (same bathroom, just different faucets). The two photos on the left show water flowing out of the tap without a filter, the top one after 10 minutes, the lighter one right after the test. Both show chlorine and lots of it. The picture on the right shows a test with one filter - no chlorine. I checked other…

Decent vitamin C filter

I bought a couple of other inexpensive vitamin C filters but they both failed within a year so I gave this one a try. I've had it for about half a year now. It seems to be working as intended. I've never tested the water, but I notice when I shower with regular water that it dries my skin. Showering with vitamin C keeps my skin from drying out, especially in winter. So it definitely serves its purpose. However, cartridges do not last as long as expected or advertised. I think they should be…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

A few months after moving into our home we noticed a problem with chloramine when my husband developed itchy skin and contact dermatitis. Also, I could smell the chemical as the water boiled, which prompted us to purchase a Big Berkey for the kitchen. After doing some research, we decided this was our best option for a bathroom until we could afford an entire house filtration system. When we first moved in we couldn't even afford the price of it so we lived with chloramine for almost 8 months…
