I tried this on a cheap window fan and the fan motor was making a loud, annoying noise. A brushless motor may have been used, which is not recommended for use with. It would be nice if it worked with all motors then I wouldn't have to try to figure out if my fan is brushless or not.

Only the top third of the adjustment is usable. Below this value, the fan only makes noise, but spins so slowly that it produces little to no airflow. So the setting is a bit more sensitive than we would like. I am using this with a Vivosun 4" 195 fpm fan. Your results with others may vary.

Good product if you have a broken switch on your device. The levels between the performance are minimal. We bought this for a large fan that had a faulty control panel and were unable to find an exact replacement. This device allows us to bypass the faulty switch. The only problem is that the device we bought only allows two fan speeds that are approximately equally fast. I think this block would be good for other things.

I bought this to reduce the power of reptile heating mats. A low setting provides approximately 50% power to the heater. On the other hand, a lamp dimmer would allow for much less control. Low settings are ideal for my application. Use it connected to the output of any ON/OFF thermostat (e.g. Inkbird 306T or similar) for better heating control than just using the thermostat. I like the resolution of the dial. Works for my application.

Installed just 2 days ago and woke up to find the grow tent had lost power. I opened the tent to the smell of burnt plastic and a melted controller. Maybe (I hope not) the plants will be destroyed. This device is very simple at heart (just a socket with a potentiometer attached) but it does the job well. Accidentally bought a built-in fan without an adjustable knob. This unit does a great job of fixing this. High-mid Low is a general setting but it's a full blown attuninator not pushing 3 settings which is good for me. Numbers are just a guide.
