Reading some reviews yes it is loud in the highs but it is a small price to pay for the quality and not as loud as explained. The fan doesn't oscillate but I found out why and that's because it literally creates a vortex and you notice the vortex when you use it in the bedroom. I rate this product based on my experience - very satisfied!

I have two other Vornado pedestal fans that I have had for many years and they are amazing. I wanted this fan for my bedroom to blow across the bed. The first thing that struck me was that he wasn't strong at all, even at the highest level. Second, it was too loud even at low speed. After a week with it I'm taking one star off to two. I have it ten feet from my bed, on the table, at a height and I can barely feel the movement of the air. Wouldn't buy again and send back if I didn't put the box out in the rain. The remote control and screws are glued into the polystyrene areas on the outside.
