I bought this item not knowing when I would need it, but I wanted to be ready for any occasion. I ended up needing it to drive a powered speaker with a built in 195W amplifier (much less than expected from this inverter). This thing died instantly. Immediately there was a noise of interference. Doesn't even turn on. I have no idea what happened but needless to say I was very upset.

The beauty of this inverter is that it powers 2 to 3 electronic devices at the same time and connects to the car battery without using the cigarette lighter. I've owned mine for 9 months to a year, loved it and bought another. I use it for backup power in the car and for temporary power outages around the house (we have them every 3 weeks or so).
