Easy setup, great extender

, I got this to extend Xfinity's free Wi-Fi. It wasn't too difficult to set up. You must first update the firmware to use it as an extension. It worked wonderfully. No more weak Xfinity signal and no more frequently requested passwords.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • For the old

These devices have made my life a reality**

These devices are intended for home users who don't need the standard features found on most routers, e.g. B. setting them up as an access point they connect to routers for their WAN signal strength is a HUGE downside that unfortunately renders them useless for anything but the most basic home consumer.

Pros
  • Multiple competitors
Cons
  • Empty

Interface frustrations and SLOW Wireless

I was trying to use this to replace my Google WiFi mesh system. I'm not happy with that, it has basic parental controls so I can specify my son's devices and schedule times to lock them or lock them on demand if I need it and reasonable speed for me with my Dell XPS Wireless laptop to copy large files to a PC with a media center or Synology NAS and vice versa. But like any specialist, I wanted more. Better speed, better controls (because I hate just managing the Google app). It seemed to haveโ€ฆ

Insecure router with no ability to configure/disable WPA security mode

Bought this router in September 2020. According to the literature, WPA/WPA2 is supported. My iPhone was recently updated and complains that the network is not secure as WPA is currently considered a weak encryption. I wanted to disable WPA and leave only WPA2. There is no way to set it up. I decide to hide the SSID and connect to it by name on my iPhone. It turns out that I can't connect to this router using the WPA2 protocol. I can only connect to it via WPA. Then why advertise that itโ€ฆ

WAVELINK PRODUCT WARRANTY (PLEASE READ MY UPDATE!)

The WL-WN538A8 (Wavelink Smart WiFi Dual Band AC3200 Router) model undoubtedly has a beautiful design. It looks fine on my desktop. The signal is moderate. Some people say it was easy to set up. The one I had wasn't that easy to set up. It took me about two days to fix all the bugs that came with mine. First, it didn't connect automatically, updating the firmware wasn't a breeze. Apart from that, the worst thing about this company is the warranty agreement. WAVELINK does not fulfill theโ€ฆ

Do not buy this router.

WiFi keeps dropping out. Technical support is poor, difficult to communicate as technicians are not from USA. Update Two firmware updates performed upon request from technical support. Wi-Fi is now very slow at 17Mbps on Net Analyzer Pro. WiFi still fails. Apple reports on my iPhone 11 Pro that the security system is outdated and leaves something to be desired. Although the router looks fine.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Sad packaging

decent router when it worked

Bought to upgrade my old Netgear 6300 AC1750 with something faster. The Wavlink range was comparable to Netgear, giving us the same coverage throughout the house without the need for repeaters/extenders. In terms of speed, I noticed a bigger increase in connection speed to 2.4GHz than 5GHz compared to Netgear, but overall both 2.4GHz and 5GHz were faster on Wavlink. Now the problem is, the latest firmware update available is from 4/2019 (on their website) which is a bit concerning that thereโ€ฆ
