Very poor quality welder

the handpiece mount baked after a short time (1 month) and now the handpiece is not blocked, it is impossible to work in such conditions. I thought Weller was a trustworthy brand, but it's not.

This is a great soldering station but there is a FATAL flaw

The only reason this station gets a star is because there is NO FUSE ON THE MAIN LINE! Everything else about this station is rock solid, but WHY NOT USE THE MAIN FUSE!?!?Now I need to go ahead and work on this soldering station to ensure it is properly protected.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Poor Quality Control

Solder took too long to melt. I measured the temperature of the tip with a thermocouple and although the display showed 720F it was actually 550F. I increased it to 800F and the same 550F. Lowered it to 500F and it showed 300s. Just to make sure it wasn't my thermocouple's fault I put some solder on the tip at the 500F setting and it didn't melt. The solder had a melting point of 422. I liked the display and the feel of the iron, but if Weller produces this quality in 2018 I will avoid it. I…

Great soldering station!

I reviewed the iron on the forum so I decided to share: This is a Weller WE1010 70W Soldering Station. It comes with a WEP70 iron and uses fairly standard ETA type tips. Firstly, the device is developed and constructed in Germany. However, it was built in Mexico. One has to agree with Weller, at least they didn't ship it overseas. I opened it up and the build quality is the same as my WES51. The device is sold in North America as Apex Tool Group in Apex, North Carolina. Because ETA tips are…

low quality. Chinese fakes are just as cheap

I have updated this review. I used to believe in Weller, but not so much now. Weller made durable tools that lasted a long time. but now they make their junk as cheap and flimsy as the Chinese used to make soldering irons. After about 3 weeks of use the wand began to loosen just below the black socket screws on the wand (next to the handle) resulting in Weller and I being basically brushed off and told that such items are not usually covered and that I can ship this (on my own $$) and they may…

works and how fast it heats up. The iron broke after the second use, the plastic part fell apart as it was deformed due to improper handling of the packaging. So I contacted Revain and after a weird chat conversation they agreed to replace him. When I got a replacement, it broke again on the second use. I wanted to contact Revain directly, but turned to Weller instead, who are known for setting the bar high for the quality of their products. an iron hilt that has been repaired in later versions
