Normal steel works best for turning tools in my opinion

Not ready for use. The oblique chisels slid into the box and were broken off. Poor rough sharpening, sticky varnish on the blades and handles. But they were very cheap for HSS.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Very expensive

Not worth the price

Return these items. For the damn close to $70 I paid, they're not worth it. I'll pay a little more for something better. The handles of the turning tools sent to me are light, dull quickly and the workmanship is poor.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Security

You get what you pay for!

Received on time, tools look good and came in a nice case BUT. Tools need to be sharpened out of the box and after ONE use on a piece of pine two have chipped and need re-sharpening and sharpening! You can't keep the lead. You get what you pay for.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Out of style

Poor quality, too expensive

When purchased they are dull so sharpening is required. Harbourfreight sells the same style for a lot less and you get the same quality handle, metal and dull blades. If you're serious, I'm seeing more and more people using blades with interchangeable blades that have 4 sides. The effort is higher right from the start, but in the long run you don't sharpen anything, just turn or change the blade.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Nothing

Don't let power tools and hand tools fool you

This is cheap steel and has no key cutout. It barely qualifies as an HSS. It's so soft it sparkles on the cbn wheel. There is no real HSS. It dulls quickly and tools bend. Beware of the "hollowed ball". It's actually a small spindle. There is no real flute. It's also too small. Try using it as a bowl cutter and the first catch will break this thing. Not everything is that bad. The wormhole works fine. The twists are good. This double angle is useless by itself. edit it This was my first set…

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some bugs
