Great price and quality

My favorite piece that I have. Stays sharp for a long time and cuts exactly how I want it. Ordered a spare in case my first one gets full. It took a few tries to get the settings perfect, but now my cribbage boards require very little handling when I take them off my xcarve (feed: 60 ipm, immersion: 10, depth per pass: 0.02 inches, spindle rotation speed: max rpm). for Dewalt 611 routers).

Excellent purchase. for power tools and hand tools

I really liked this drill because the package had all the specs needed to set up a new tool. The quality is also excellent when cutting wood or lighter materials. I'm using a CNC router I built and I used cheaper V-bits. With the right feed/speed, this nozzle can work on wood for a very long time. Definitely worth a try if you're looking to get into CNC milling.

Pros
  • Edge and grooving bits
Cons
  • Hard to say

For making faux plywood from sheet plywood

This die is ideal for making birch plywood sheet for marine plywood. I used it to carve shallow grooves at regular intervals and it left a fairly clean surface that required minimal sanding to paint over. It stayed sharp for about 150 linear foot grooves, which is all I needed. It's carbide and will likely hold a few more projects of a similar size.

Pros
  • Cutter parts and accessories
Cons
  • Requires socket

Great beat! Best in Category Edger & Grooving Bits

I actually bought two of these bits after bumping the first one against my CNC's set screw at high speed due to poor clearance estimation. To be honest I was surprised, the only minor damage from the encounter was the loss of the tip, maybe 0.015 overall length. Unfortunately, this didn't make it that useful for my CNC, so I reassigned it to shop grooving on my hand router. The cut is very good and the edge holds very well. I use this on an Inventables "X-Carve" with a DeWalt 611 as the spindle

Great beat! on bits for edging and grooving

I have actually bought two of these bits now after running the first one against the holddown screw of my CNC at high speed due to a poor estimation of the distance from my sides. To be honest I was surprised, the only minor damage from the encounter was the loss of the tip, maybe 0.015 overall length. Unfortunately, this didn't make it that useful for my CNC, so I reassigned it to shop grooving on my hand router. The cut is very good and the edge holds very well. I use this on an Inventables…

Quality is a game

I've ordered many of these Whiteside 1540 bits from other sources with no problem, but I'm disappointed in the ones I've received from Hartville. 2 of the 3 bits I ordered were of far worse quality than I have ever seen. These 2 had a rough cut, burn marks on the cutting edges due to poor sharpening and they didn't reach the sharp point as intended. I don't know if they were badly reground used bits or if they came that way from the factory, but I haven't seen them that way in other sources. I…

  • Could have chosen a newer model

Another amazing professional beat from Whiteside!

I used this along with a 45 degree liner and white side to make small signs. When I first started woodworking I started with a cheap router that worked well and switched to Freud until I started hearing Whiteside more often on some woodworking forums. Some of the pieces seemed a bit overpriced but as soon as I tried one of their pieces I was hooked. I use a Bosch Colt and full size plunge router, and Whiteside is my go-to for all my router bits. I still have Freud router bits and no name brand…
