Bad product, bad customer support.

This stopped the cool down in less than 10 months. I've tried resetting it, erasing it, and even running it on AC power. Contacted support a week ago and heard nothing. Now I'm left with a cooler with a digital thermometer that tells me when to take the ice cream mug out of the freezer to keep the temperature decently cold. Bad product, bad customer support.

Whynter FM-45CAM 45 Quart Camouflage Edition Portable Fridge

If Whynter FM-45CAM 45 Quart Camouflage Edition Portable Fridge 110VAC/12VDC Real Freezer for Car Home Camping, RV-8°F to 50 °F , Camoflage was connected for testing and worked perfectly. If it was connected to the trip, it was NOT working. The item has been returned and we have requested a refund of $464.76. Will ask again because it was longer than 7 days.

Winter has the worst customer service.

I bought this device in Spring 2017. First I liked the fridge, it worked as advertised. But it only took 16 months for the compressor to stop cooling. One year warranty only. After several phone calls and emails, it's now been a month and I still don't have my fridge. This is a short story about a circus that continued with Winter. I really don't have the strength to repeat nonsense again. Also in history. I will look for another company. Don't buy from Winter.

Terrible product very expensive bug

I bought this product and it worked for about 6 months and then stopped. Won't keep up and the customer service from Whynter was terrible. If the product fails after two months, the buyer is responsible for shipping. I no longer had the original packaging material, so the box cost $60 to make. Winter support staff sent parts but they didn't know what parts were used in my unit. So I had to check which part I needed based on the photo sent. I have decided to throw the device away. I've invested…

A trucker's dream!

I was very skeptical at first. I've used coolers and ice or thermoelectric coolers. Both are impractical. So I looked at Engel coolers but they are very expensive, usually around $1000. So I took the risk and ordered Whynter. Very satisfied so far! I drive a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia with an APU Thermo King Tripak. The tractor also has a 1800W inverter. So I always use a 110 volt cord. The cooler is very heavy so I leave it in the truck but hook up an APU to keep the power going. Also, I have…

Wow what a great 12 volt or 110 volt fridge.

Excellent cold. Cools and freezes fast, uses only 60w AC and 5 amps DC, 12v. Great for camping, uses a lot less power than my thermoelectric cooler and cools 5x faster. It is also very quiet, it has two motors: a 12V supercharged motor and a 12V condenser fan. So quiet that you can easily sleep in the camper even at night. Well insulated and all metal, very strong but weighs about 48 pounds. The thermostat is digital and is +/- 3 degrees from my calibrated thermometer. The unit cools to about 4

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Communication with the seller

The best investment I've made in a long time. Works perfectly. As a truck driver, I spend $10 to $20 a week on ice cream. that's $480 a year on hold, and that's the lowest point. paid for itself in a year. Colman electric coolers are utterly useless and a BIG waste of $120. On a 90 degree day your 50 degree cooler inside is a good buy for your food and I hope you enjoy hot pop music. Not this baby, everything is icy or frozen if you like. Drops to -8 degrees, turns off when temperature hits…

This freezer is great and makes my travels easier

My friends laughed at me. I travel a lot and can't fly. I need to bring special food. I removed part of the back seat of my truck and put a freezer in it. I made a quick connection with bungee cords and it connects to the truck's DC power supply. My laptop uses more power than this freezer. When I go to the hotel, I take it out of the truck, bring it to the hotel room and plug it into the mains. Quiet, precise temperature control. My family and friends laughed at me at first, now they want it…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
