I bought this ruler to keep in my tool box as an alternative to the clunky tape measure and I'm glad I did. less than I thought (which is fine for my purposes). It folds down to 5 x 7/8 x 1/2 inches, making it very compact yet rigid when unfolded. Each connection opens with a characteristic "click" and stays open or closed very well. Wiha makes great tools. I knew this and took the risk of buying a folding ruler, thinking that for the price it might not be too much of a disappointment.
