5-Inch Medium Winco Cheese Slicer with Cast Aluminum Blade Review

I really liked this cheese slicer, but recently the wire broke. We cut up large blocks of sharp cheddar that might have outgrown it over time. It worked great for a year and a half but now needs to be repaired or replaced (although this doesn't look like an easy fix).

Excellent cheese slicer. I'm not sure, but I think you're getting a little more than advertised. My guess is that the handle of this "cast aluminum cheese slicer" is actually stainless steel and only the roller is aluminum. Maybe others know for sure. Definitely cast aluminum or cast stainless steel. either way . it is very well made and i love it.

This is one of the highest quality products I have seen. Quality and features you can't find in stores. It's a heavy cutter by "normal" standards, but it works perfectly and is easy to adjust. All design for the end user. If you're looking for a good slice of cheese to take home or shop, then this is it!

I think the food slicer is made of very good quality material and I ordered it because I needed an adjustable food slicer. It's adjustable but getting it to the right thickness is a little tricky because you have to tighten both sides of the wire and then it turns out you can only cut one side to make a straight cut. Not as efficient as my last slicer which was adjusted by tightening the center screw.

Wire that cuts is quite soft and elastic - it still works but I haven't seen wire as pliable in these types of tools - the handle on the other hand seems quite sturdy - so it's up to you - i contacted the supplier about the cable - they were very happy to accommodate - although i couldn't understand the support person's strong accent - they sent a new cable - same problem - soft - BUT that soft wire is everything still cuts cheese :0)

I am very happy with this cheese slicer! It's definitely high quality cast aluminum and I mean heavy but very well balanced in the hand! I particularly like the adjustable stainless steel cutting wire and its width. This food slicer had the weight and feel of a quality instrument. When it arrived I adjusted the position of the reel by tightening the brass knobs with a coin (the knobs have a slot for a screwdriver but I figured the coin would be easier to find). Broke after 3.5 years of regular use (5 days a week). It seems like most people have a broken cutting wire, but for us it was one of the brass nuts on the adjustment screws that hold the reel in place (see picture). We adjusted the thickness when we first got it and when the screw came loose, which wasn't very often, I'm surprised it broke.
