💻 Dell Wyse 3040 Thin Client - Intel Quad-core 1.44GHz Processor Review

I just bought a Dell Wyse 3040 to play around with, but when I discovered the board had 8GB of onboard flash I was determined to boot a working OS onto it . I knew it had to be a lightweight version of Linux to fit and work. I found several versions that could run from a USB flash drive, but none of them treated the onboard flash as a system drive. This is an excellent thin client or Raspberry Pi replacement. I use mine to display signs and it works great. Some things to note: Storage is not expandable. The memory is slow flash memory. In operation, it consumes about 5 watts.

I bought these devices hoping to use them for digital learning with kids. I connected them to a high performance server running RDS and Windows 10 virtual machines. Everything was working fine until I started streaming Youtube videos. There was a noticeable lag in video and audio (lip sync). It seems to be a known issue with RDP. I would give it 5 stars but the audio lag was a deal breaker.
