Easy to install if.

I have a house that is not connected to the grid but gets a lot of sun and wind. The information on this article in Revain indicates that it can manage wind, solar and generator power and is easy to install. Power hub ordered. It arrived. I have read the manual. The more I read the more I realized that installation is easy if you are a licensed electrician with alternative energy experience. I called the Xantrex home office for "warm fluff" to install myself. They said, rough quote here, that…

Served only 3 years!

I purchased a Xantrex PowerHub1800 in 2009 as a UPS for frequent power outages to power my sump pump and refrigerator. Since then it has only been used once to power the fridge during a power outage. In 2012, error code E09 appeared, indicating a ground fault open circuit. Xantrex Technical Support suggested I check the voltage on my batteries and replace them. The voltage was too low so I swapped the batteries out without trying to charge them with another charger (gross mistake). Even with…

It's junk, just like the company

I bought my unit from Solutions from Science as part of a complete solar backup package. The full set cost me about $4,000. I've owned it for less than four years and it has proven to be completely unreliable. The first problem occurred to me after only a few months of use. It stopped working and I had to repackage it to return it. It was under warranty and didn't cost me anything, but the inconvenience factor was still there. Last summer I had intermittent power delivery issues. Then it…

Very easy to install and use. Works perfectly!

Not sure where the previous reviewer had a problem? I bought one of these Revain power hubs for our "standalone" cabin two years ago. I also bought: 3x60W solar panels from a local supplier ($400); 2 x Canadian Tire 100Ah deep cycle batteries designed for this system ($400 sales); 100 feet of #10 wire ($100); a pair of #4 12" jumper wires and a 20 amp charge controller ($75). The panels were installed on our roof. Wire from the panels was run through the old pipe riser into the basement and up…

Non-repairable/upgradeable

I bought this unit a little over three years ago. I used it as a backup power supply and just left it plugged in to keep the batteries charged. I had no problems. About a month ago I connected two 135w solar panels to the device. I was hoping to go partially "offline" in my house. Everything worked perfectly, the batteries were charged well. Before I could connect an AC load to the unit, it started flashing error code E3. This means a large AC load. The problem was and is, I haven't started any

Xantrex PH-1800 PowerHub

We bought the PowerHub to service ham radios in a remote location where there could be a few brief outages each day, sometimes a day or two. We chose to install two 200Ah batteries instead of one or two 100Ah batteries that would fit in a battery cabinet. The PowerHub works flawlessly, and the radio and computer hardware it supports has no problem with the synthesized sine wave output that the PH-1800 produces. about 40 milliseconds, and we were concerned about how well the computer and router…
