🐠 Enhance Aquarium Water Circulation with Yagote Lily Pipe Glass Outflow Skimmer Set 13mm & 17mm Review

Just like the other thing I've bought from this company, great product! I was skeptical that a protein skimmer would work. But it is so! It cleaned the water surface in minutes! The water flow is way better than anything I've used. Update: I honestly thought the thing would break or the skimmer wouldn't work. But it turns out that it not only cleans surface dirt, but also significantly improves water quality. It was the best investment I've made for my 20 gallon.

Nice looking lily pipe but I had to put a sponge filter on the bottom which makes it a bit ugly. The slots are big enough that my mystery snails get sucked out of the bowl every time they pass through the air intake. My external filter is not even super strong (SICCE 350). However, it is worth using. Just remember to protect your snails. Filters that fit perfectly is the Sweep Hose Tail Scrubber (just search Amazon). You can see the black filter in the left center of the posted image.

SKIMMER ONLY WORKS AFTER MODIFICATION. I bought it as a skimmer. IT WILL NOT WORK IMMEDIATELY. It's too light and doesn't absorb water because it floats too much. I took a butter knife and heated it on the stove and had to create HALF UP ribs on the bottom half of the cup to reduce the air bubbles keeping the slotted spoon afloat. Locking tube with suction cup. The suction cup stuck to the glass and the hose failed, breaking off and spraying water all over the room. This happened by itself, only with the pump running. I bought these and use them with a Fluval 307 canister filter in my 17 gallon ADA 60P aquarium for my planting. The large tube opening reduces the outlet pressure and distributes it over a wider and more even flow pattern. This is especially helpful as using a large filter for my small pool with the original pipes gives a very strong flow. Not only does it remove dirt/scale instantly, I have noticed that it increases the movement of the water surface compared to my usual water lily. I have an Eheim Pro4+ 600 low flow canister, that helps a bit. It needed a bit of tweaking from time to time so I used a 3ml pipette to suck air from the bottom of the skimmer to get it sitting properly on my waterline. My lily pipe arrived damaged. There was a noticeable tear in the lily portion of the outlet about 3/4 inch long. It'll probably still work fine, but it's not perfect, and for something like a glass inlet/outlet I want them to be perfect. My package also only came with 2 suction cups when it was supposed to be (I guess) 4 as there is room for 2 on each of the drain and inflow pipes.
